LONG BEACH, CA — Two people have been arrested in connection to the January shooting death of a 32-year-old Long Beach man, police said on Friday.

Josh Porras, 50, and Maria Gomez Gallegos, 41, both of Long Beach, were arrested on Thursday in connection with Steven Vejar’s Jan. 12 shooting death, according to the Long Beach Police Department.

Vejar, who was homeless at the time, was found by police suffering from a gunshot wound that evening on the 2300 block of East Artesia Boulevard, though police said the shooting actually occurred near the Union Pacific Railroad and East Artesia Boulevard.

The suspects fled before police arrived, according to the LBPD.

Paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries, police said.

Porras and Gallegos were both booked for murder after their arrest. Bail was set at $2 million for both, according to police.
