A driver fatally struck a woman in San Jose and then left the scene on Saturday morning, police said.
Around 6:20 a.m., a woman walking in the area of North Capitol Avenue and Longford Drive was struck by a vehicle.
She was taken to the hospital but was pronounced dead, police said.
The driver was not at the scene when police arrived. Officers were still in the area as of 9 a.m., investigating the deadly hit-and-run. Â
