GQ and Legion of Honor Museum host San Francisco’s biggest night of pre-Super Bowl fashion

  • February 7, 2026

Star-studded crowds have officially landed in San Francisco ahead of Super Bowl 60.

On Friday night, they walked the gray carpet to celebrate the second annual GQ Bowl hosted at the Legion of Honor Museum, where designer Thom Browne, whose signature color is gray, launched his 2026 fall collection. Queen Latifah was there. Teyana Taylor was there. Alix Earle was there with her sister Ashtin.

When asked who she was rooting for on Sunday, Earle — who recently split from the Houston Texans’ wide receiver Braxton Berrios and was spotted with Tom Brady in St. Barths last month — said “I’m rooting for Bad Bunny,” a popular answer among the celebrities on the carpet.

All were outfitted in impeccably tailored neutrals in keeping with the theme. Yet, the night was anything but dull. Many wore ‘ICE OUT’ pins adorning their tweed lapels.

Queen Latifah paused just long enough on the gray carpet to declare her favorite Bay Area spot: “Oakland!”

The real show began fashionably late.

TikTok-star-turned-model Vinnie Hacker made a dramatic entrance from the Legion’s rotunda, Thom Browne briefcase in hand, striding toward a gray desk positioned at the base of Auguste Rodin’s The Three Shades.

Actor Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, best known for his role as Black Manta in “Aquaman,” joined him at the top of the runway, staying in character behind the desk for the show’s duration, scribbling dramatically on paper like a man solving the mysteries of the universe — or at least menswear.

Models emerged from the museum’s 18th century decorative arts rooms, known as the Salon Doré, (opens in new tab) in one cozy-chic outfit after the another.

The signature makeup look on this runway was a touch of rose gold leaf: swept across the eyes, dotted on the lips, sprouting from each model’s hair part, or wrapped delicately around dreadlocks. Striped headphones served as accessories. It was tech-meets-fashion with a gilded edge.

“Heated Rivalry’s” hot hot hottie François Arnaud, who plays the hit show’s veteran New York hockey player who takes a brave stand for love, watched the show, rapt. Seated nearby were K-Pop star Joshua Hong from SEVENTEEN and Olympic gold all-around medal gymnast Suni Lee.

Also spotted: Bay Area native Myha’la, now starring in HBO’s “Industry,” Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith and partner Mya Danielle, Indianapolis Colts cornerback Ahmad “Sauce” Gardner, former football player Nate Burleson, and internet personality Morgan Riddle.

NFL players Vikings wide receiver Justin “Jets” Jefferson, Ravens wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins walked in the show with rose gold-adorned hair. Hopkins described the experience as “surreal.” Former Los Angeles Raiders running back Marcus Allen walked too, looking dapper.

Despite Browne’s limited color palette, the looks were far from minimalist. Layered atop a pair of gray slacks, one male model wore a matching skirt, a long white button up, a sweater vest, a second button-up, a tie, a coat, and a striped beanie. These are winter outfits that San Franciscans can’t even imagine wearing.

Post-show consensus revealed fashion influencer and eBay ambassador Wisdom Kaye had his eye on a pair of tall maroon boots. Lee and Riddle enthusiastically pulled up camera roll photos to gush about a coordinating plaid puffer jacket and pleated skirt set.

Bay Area fashion writer Viv Chen loved a dress featuring ribbon appliqué, while GQ’s Global Editorial Director Will Welch — who organized the evening — favored the fine beadwork on the glittering finale looks. Model Evan Mock kept it simple, praising Thom’s “classic stuff” — the pared-down grey suiting he himself wore.

The after-party spilled into the main courtyard with a DJ set from Kitty Ca$h, though by then the evening’s biggest celebrities had already fled. Event sponsor eBay teased its pre-loved sportswear Super Bowl pop-up on Powell Street with a wall of vintage jerseys. 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey posed dutifully in front.

Teyana Taylor, who graced the carpet with daughters Iman “Junie” Shumpert and Rue Rose Shumpert in head-to-toe Browne, summed up the Bay Area best when asked to describe it in one word.

“Bay Areaaaa — it’s like a dance,” then proceeded to effortlessly break it down on the gray carpet, proving that even in a sea of monochrome, this city’s got rhythm.
