SAN DIEGO – San Diego State women’s tennis is back at the Aztec Tennis Center this weekend, hosting Long Beach State in a Sunday afternoon contest, beginning at noon PT.

The Aztecs enter the matchup with a 2-1 overall record, most recently sweeping UC San Diego 4-0 last Saturday. The team is 2-0 at home after earning a 7-0 victory over Point Loma in January. Their lone loss came at No. 17 UCLA by a score of 5-2.
San Diego State has two players in this week’s ITA singles and doubles rankings. Jo-Yee Chan and Vessa Turley are 32nd in the nation in doubles play. With an 11-3 overall record, the Aztecs boast an ITA Conference Masters doubles championship, which earned them a bid to the NCAA Championships this fall. Chan also ranks in singles, coming in at 107th. The senior is 13-5 on the season, most recently winning 6-4, 6-3 on the top court vs. UC San Diego’s Olivia Allegre.
Ninon Martinache and Teja Tirunelveli, playing primarily in the second and fifth spots, respectively, have each posted nine wins on the season to help lead the Aztecs. Tirunelveli is 2-0 in dual matches as well.
Long Beach State holds a 2-3 record, earning wins over Wichita State and UC Riverside, but falling to No. 22 Texas Tech, Grand Canyon and Loyola Marymount.
The last time the two programs met was on Feb. 16, 2025, with Long Beach State taking the match 4-2.
Following Sunday’s contest, the Aztecs will host Loyola Marymount at 11 a.m. PT on Feb. 13.
