Two suspects were arrested after a man was found shot to death near railroad tracks in Long Beach.
Police identified the suspects as Maria Gomez Gallegos, 41, and Josh Porras, 50, both Long Beach residents.
On Jan. 12, police responded to a shooting on the 2300 block of East Artesia Boulevard just before 7:30 p.m.
Officers found the victim, Steven Vejar, 32, suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries. The suspects fled the scene before police arrived.
Following an investigation, detectives identified Gallegos and Porras as the primary suspects. On Feb. 5, both were located in the 5500 block of Linden Avenue and taken into custody.
They were arrested for murder and remain in custody on $2 million bail each. Details on a possible motive or the circumstances leading up to the deadly shooting remain unclear.
Detectives will present the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office for filing consideration.
“The LBPD would like to thank the community for their assistance in the investigation,” the police department said.
