BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — The California Department of Social Services has issued guidance to counties, including the Kern County Department of Human Services, regarding the impact of the federal government shutdown on CalWORKs (TNAF) and CalFresh (SNAP) benefits. According to the department, funding for CalWORKs is secured for November 2025. However, while October CalFresh benefits remain unaffected, federal funds are not currently available for November benefits if the shutdown persists.
