BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A McFarland resident was arrested for allegedly shooting a man and leading officers on a pursuit.
The McFarland Police Department said on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at around 1:54 a.m., officers were called to a report of a shooting that had happened in the 300 block of San Pedro Street.
When officers arrived, they talked to witnesses who reported that 38-year-old Fernando Cisneros had been at a home earlier, causing a disturbance.
McFarland police said Cisneros reportedly arrived in a white pickup truck and began revving his engine, disturbing the peace in the neighborhood. He then continued to drive up and down the street.
According to the investigation, a victim, identified as a man, left the home in his vehicle and later encountered Cisneros a short distance away. Police said during that encounter, Cisneros shot at the victim, striking him once in the right arm.
The victim drove away in his vehicle while Cisneros pursued him onto Highway 99, where the victim was ultimately able to evade the suspect.
Several hours later, officers found Cisneros in his vehicle near Frontage Road and 3rd Street in McFarland.
When officers attempted to talk to him, Cisneros drove off, initiating a short vehicle pursuit. The pursuit ended when Cisneros surrendered without further incident.
A search of Cisneros’ vehicle resulted in the recovery of a gun believed to have been used in the shooting. Cisneros was taken into custody and later booked into the Lerdo Justice Facility.
The victim was taken to Kern Medical for treatment of a gunshot wound and is expected to recover.
