A road-rage shooting in Long Beach left a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds on Saturday, police said.

Officers responding around 10:55 a.m. on Feb. 7 to the 2000 block of Palo Verde Avenue near East Los Santos Drive found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a hospital.

The shooting followed a minor traffic collision involving the victim and another driver, police said. After the crash, police said in a news release, “The victim led the suspect to an alley where a shooting occurred.” It was not clear what “led” meant, or what occurred immediately before the shooting.

The suspect remained at the scene and was arrested without incident, the release said. Police said a firearm was recovered, but did not describe it.

It was not clear if the victim and suspect knew each other. Authorities said there’s no indication that the shooting is gang-related.

The investigation is ongoing.
