The Del Mar Fairgrounds announced three additional open house dates in February for county residents to give feedback on the venue’s master planning process.

The 22nd District Agricultural Association, which owns and operates the Del Mar Fairgrounds, initially hosted six open houses in six different San Diego County communities last year to guide planning efforts on long-term uses for the fairgrounds main campus, Del Mar Horsepark; and the Surf & Turf Recreation Center.

The three new open house dates will be Wednesday, Feb. 11, at the Carlsbad Senior Center, Wednesday, Feb. 18 at Cathy Hopper Friendship Center in North Clairemont, and Tuesday, Feb. 24, at the Jackie Robinson Family YMCA in Southeast San Diego, which will also include a presentation in Spanish. Each event starts at 6 p.m.

A fairgrounds news release added that the events are “meant to encourage widespread participation in the Fairgrounds 2050 process by offering engagement opportunities near the communities where Fairgrounds visitors work and live.”

“Before our Board begins in-depth conversations and analyses about what is feasible, we wanted to spend more time asking our community about their hopes, dreams, and priorities for our future,” Sam Nejabat, chair of the 22nd DAA’s board of directors, said in a statement. “The Fairgrounds is our community’s iconic gathering place, and our communities’ desires will be essential to starting our discussions about our future.”
