SAN JOSE, Calif. — Five people were shot Sunday night near a San Jose intersection, prompting hospitalizations and street closures as police investigate what they described as an “isolated” case of shooting.
Officers responded to reports of gunfire near North Market and West Santa Clara streets around 10:50 p.m., hours after the Super Bowl.
The San Jose Police Department initially said there were three who were shot, before confirming later that there were five victims.
All of them were transported to local hospitals and are expected to survive.
The public is urged to avoid the area as officers work on the scene of the crime.
Police have not said if anyone was arrested, but video shows several people in handcuffs during the investigation.
