Academic honors earned by Pacific Beach, Mission Beach students

Colleges and universities have announced academic honors and degrees earned by students from the 92109 ZIP code.

Sometimes it takes a few months for the academic institutions to release their students’ achievements to the media.

Six local students were among the more than 18,700 University of Maryland Global Campus students named to its Fall 2025 Dean’s List. They were Julian Box, Kynlen Chan, Megan Kearns, Kenneth Klein, Michael Lane and Ashley Peterson.

To be eligible, students had to complete at least six credits during the term, earn a term GPA of at least 3.5 and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.

Two locals earned academic honors from Southern New Hampshire University at the the conclusion of its Fall 2025 term.

Raynal Cooksey was named to its Fall 2025 President’s List. To be honored, full-time undergraduate students had to earn a GPA of 3.7 and above and complete at least 12 credits during the term.

Sydney Courville was named to its Dean’s List. To be honored, full-time undergraduate students had to earn a minimum GPA of 3.5 to 3.699 and complete at least 12 credits during the term.

Nazareth University has named Sophia Sidell to its Fall 2025 Dean’s List. To be honored by the campus in Rochester, New York, students had to earn a GPA of 3.5 or above and complete 12 credit hours of graded work that semester.

David James Stockslager was among the 3,800 students worldwide who earned a degree from the University of Maryland Global Campus at the conclusion of the Summer 2025 term.

Stockslager earned a Bachelor of Science in computer networks and cybersecurity.

Southern New Hampshire University announced academic honors for several students in the 92109 ZIP code at the conclusion of its Summer 2025 term.

Five locals were named to its President’s List. They were Raynal Cooksey, Jordan Creath, Nevin Dursun, Aliyah Ortiz and Brooklyn Sherman.

To make the President’s List, full-time undergraduate students had to earn a GPA of 3.7 and above and complete at least 12 credits during the term.

Brooke Hall was named to its Dean’s List. To be honored, full-time undergraduate students had to earn a minimum GPA of 3.5 to 3.699 and complete at least 12 credits during the term.

To be eligible for the honor, students had to complete at least six credits during the term, earn a term GPA of at least 3.5 and maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.5 at UMGC.
