BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A woman was arrested after allegedly stabbing another woman in downtown Bakersfield after an argument inside a bar.

The Bakersfield Police Department said on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at around 1:32 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a stabbing in the 1500 block of 19th Street in downtown Bakersfield.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified as a woman, down in the roadway, who was surrounded by a large, hostile, and unruly crowd of over 100 people.

Additional officers quickly responded to help in dispersing the large crowd to secure the crime scene. When additional officers arrived on scene, they were also directed by private security to the suspect, who was leaving the scene eastbound still armed with the knife.

The suspect, identified as Gjadah Renay, was taken into custody and a knife was recovered, according to police.

A canvass for video and additional witnesses was completed.

Police said the investigation found that the incident stemmed from some type of argument between the victim and suspect inside a nearby bar and ultimately erupted once on the street.

The victim suffered minor to moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

The suspect was also medically cleared at a hospital and later booked into the Lerdo Jail for appropriate charges, according to police.
