BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A newborn baby was found dead near a dumpster on Panama Lane early Monday morning. Police said the mother of the infant was taken to a hospital.
The Bakersfield Police Department said on Monday, February 9, at around 1:25 a.m., officers responded to the 1500 block of Panama Lane for a reported baby found near a dumpster behind a business.
When they arrived, they found a newborn unresponsive.
Police said medical personnel responded and pronounced the baby dead.
According to police, the mother of the newborn was at the scene and taken to a hospital.
Police said the investigation into the baby’s death is ongoing.
