Body found in a canal 7 miles away from off-road vehicle crash

MERCED COUNTY, Calif. (FOX26) — The Merced County Sheriff’s Department announced that they found a female body in the canal on Sunday morning.

The body was reported to be located in the Delta Mendota Canal near Whitworth Road and Cottonwood Road.

The body is described as that of an adult female.

The recovery location appears to be seven miles away from a reported accident that occurred on January 28th.

The accident involved four individuals crashing into the canal on a RZR off-road vehicle.

One of the individuals has been reported missing since that accident.

Deputies say that the body can not be identified at this time.
