BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Two people from Bakersfield have pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor related to production of child sex abuse material and now face decades in prison, according to federal prosecutors.

Roy Richard Truitt III, 43, and Amber Louise Lowe, 48, both pleaded guilty Monday to charges against them, the U.S. District Attorney’s Office in Fresno said in a release.

Truitt pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor and being a registered sex offender committing a felony involving a minor. Lowe pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation of a minor and receipt and distribution of child pornography.

The two were indicted in 2023.

Truitt and Lowe together conspired and sexually exploited a minor producing sexually abusive photographs of the victim between Aug. 28, 2018 and Sept. 2, 2018. Truitt was required to register as a sex offender and received the images from Lowe, prosecutors said in a release.

Truitt faces a minimum 25 years in prison and a maximum 50 years in prison for sexual exploitation of a minor; He also faces a mandatory consecutive sentence of 10 years in prison for committing a felony against a minor while a registered sex offender.

Lowe faces a maximum 30 years in prison for sexual exploitation of a minor and a maximum of up to 20 years in prison for receipt and distribution of child pornography.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 4.
