SAN DIEGO – Santa Clara women’s golf is tied for third after 36 holes of play at the San Diego State Classic after turning in a 9-over 585 at the par 72 Bernardo Heights Country Club on Monday. Amy Kim and Kelsey Kim each shot 1-under 143 to put themselves in a six-way tie for eighth place.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Kim began the day with an outstanding 3-under 69 in the first round, tallying four birdies against just one bogey. It was the junior’s ninth round under par on the season, moving her into a tie with Sarah Busey (2018-19) for the most in a single season in program history. It was also the 18th such round of her career, which also tied the program record held by Annie Freman.
Kim followed with a mostly clean second round, including a bogey-free back nine, but a double-bogey and bogey on Nos. 8 and 9 countered her lone birdie of the round to finish 2-over 74.
Im shot even par in the first round and turned in a 1-under 71 on her final 18 holes of the day. She tallied six combined birdies for the day.
Chloe Lam is just outside the top 20 in a tie for 21st at 3-over 147 while Alexa Pineda (+8) and Audrey Brust (+10) are tied for 40th and 48th, respectively.
No. 42 Cal State Fullerton holds an 11-stroke lead over the rest of the field at 7-under 569. The Titans’ Katharina Zeilinger holds the individual lead at 7-under 137.
