The Fresno City Council will hold a special meeting on Tuesday to discuss the $1.5 million that was embezzled through Measure P.

The city announced Monday that it will discuss three items in closed session on Tuesday relating to potential litigation.

Driving the news: Fresno police confirmed on Monday that the department and the FBI are investigating the reported embezzlement of $1.5 million in Measure P funds.

The money was allegedly embezzled by a former employee of the Fresno Arts Council, the organization contracted with the city to administer and distribute the tax’s arts grant program.

What we’re watching: While Tuesday’s special meeting agenda does not specify that the council will discuss the alleged embezzlement, the meeting was agendized on Monday shortly after the reports came out.

Councilwoman Annalisa Perea confirmed to GV Wire that the city council will discuss the embezzlement.

The special meeting will begin at 10:15 a.m. Following the Pledge of Allegiance and the approval of the agenda, the council will convene immediately into closed session to discuss the embezzlement and two other unidentified items. There are no open session items listed on the agenda.
