OAKLAND — A suspect in a shooting was arrested following an hours-long standoff with officers Monday in Oakland, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

The incident started about 10:20 a.m. when officers responded to the 2800 block of Summit Street to investigate reports of shots fired that were recorded on a gunshot detection alert system, police said.

When officers arrived, they attempted to contact an individual who had barricaded themselves inside an apartment building unit with a firearm, police said. Officers evacuated some residents and shut down streets in the area while they attempted to communicate with the individual.

Just after 7 p.m., police announced a suspect had been taken into custody.
