Love is in the galleries on the Long Beach Peninsula

The Long Beach Peninsula arts community is celebrating Valentine’s Day weekend in a big way. 

On the northern end of the Peninsula, three art institutions are offering coloful displays in a promotion called “Explore Art in the Heart of Ocean Park.”

The Bay Avenue Gallery and Studio is showcasing the work of 50 local artists.

Owner Sue Raymond will have multiple items on show at 1406 Bay Ave., in Ocean Park. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 14 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 15.

As well as Raymond’s creations, they will include ceramics by Taylor Marye-Baker, decorated cards by Judy Cox, mice, bunnies and other critters by Lee Plympton and pendants by Vicki Sullivan.

Two arts establishments based at 25902 Vernon Ave., in Ocean Park, will be open to showcase their wares. Both will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 14 and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 15.

Ilwaco

In Ilwaco, the Don Nisbett Art Gallery on the waterfront at 167 Howerton Way, will offer a Valentine gift with purchase from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 14.

Nisbett’s original artworks entitled “Heart of Gold” and “Crab Heart Claws” are the latest in his Valentine art series for 2026. 

In addition to watercolors, Nisbett makes products featuring his art at his gallery and studio. These include prints, tiles, cards, coffee mugs and T-shirts. Artwork may be customized with names or other quick renderings he does on the spot. 

The gallery is closed Sundays and Tuesdays.
