Since 2010, YouthBeat has helped more than 3,500 Oakland students discover their voice, tell their stories, and gain the skills needed to pursue careers in media and film. What began as a small after-school program has grown into a citywide movement that now serves over 400 youth each year.
This year marks an exciting milestone as YouthBeat transitions into an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit, opening a new chapter in its mission to amplify youth voices through storytelling.
About the Celebration
The YouthBeat 15-Year Anniversary Celebration will bring together more than 125 community members, including civic leaders, educators, corporate partners, and—most importantly—the young filmmakers and alumni who have shaped the program’s success.
Guests can look forward to:
A youth-created film and animation showcase highlighting original student work
A social impact happy hour featuring local food and beverages
A red-carpet experience with students, alumni, and community partners
A live auction and giving opportunities to support YouthBeat’s growing programs
