A chance encounter on Tinder helped Tatiana Jasmine Schwaninger and Graham T. Perez lead the resurgence of indie sleaze music in the early 2020s, and they’re just getting started.
After meeting on the dating app in 2018, the two moved from Florida to Michigan together, eventually relocating to New York City, where they began making music together in 2021. With Schwaninger lending her vocals and Perez producing, the duo started releasing its music independently, its high-energy hyperpop cut with distorted vocals and synth melodies.
In 2023, the two, who perform under the name Snow Strippers, signed to DJ Diplo’s Mad Decent label and producer Evilgiane’s Surf Gang Records.
The electronic duo, who most recently released “Night Killaz Vol. 2” EP in 2024, is set to perform at Oakland’s Fox Theater on Feb.21.
