The Bakersfield Police Department said on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at around 1:32 a.m., officers responded to a 911 call regarding a stabbing in the 1500 block of 19th Street in downtown Bakersfield.

When officers arrived, they found the victim, identified as a woman, down in the roadway.

When additional officers arrived on scene, they were also directed by private security to the suspect, who was leaving the scene eastbound still armed with the knife, according to BPD.

Police said the investigation found that the incident stemmed from some type of argument between the victim and suspect inside a nearby bar and ultimately erupted once on the street. The victim suffered minor to moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Renay appeared for her first court appearance on Tuesday. She pleaded not guilty with a bail set at $55,000.
