The calendar is a colorful cacophony of quirky holidays, but one occasion that has continued to rise in playful prominence has become a stellar spring stand-out.
And yet? Halfway to Halloween, the spring stand-out we’re referring to, may bring fall feels to mind, and autumn-style eeks, and not the sweet warming breezes of late April and early May.
The meet-up of those two months is when many Halloween lovers are pausing to mark the “6-months-out-to-late-October” moment, and one of the best-loved spots for Angelenos to do that has become the Spooky Swap Meet.
The shopping-plus celebration will be back at atmospheric Heritage Square Museum to honor the Halfway-to-Halloween vibes from April 24 through 26.
Tickets recently shimmered into being, like a phantom arriving from some other dimension, and you can book your admission now (some of the time slots are already full or filling up).
The shopping is scarily sublime, with a few dozen dastardly vendors making panache-filled appearances. Or more than a few dozen, to be frighteningly frank: There are over 65 haunting spots to shop already on tap for the 2026 event.
Peculiar and petite pop-ups will grace the grounds as well, with “mini walk-thru haunted experiences” adding a fall-like flavor to the celebration, and some roaming monsters rocking ominous outfits and terrific make-up.
Oh yes: And guests are invited to trick-or-treat by visiting seven stunning Victorian manses, the vintage gems that add so much mystery and beauty to the historic park.
The happening boasts some Halloween-smart pros at the helm: Scarlett Creative, Inc., Claire Dunlap (co-creator of Midsummer Scream), and GOREnaments founder Sarah Cooke continue to brew up the character-filled concoction each spring, just when autumn enthusiasts are starting to wish they could hit fast-forward and eerily alight in the middle of October.
David Markland, the Executive Director of Midsummer Scream, and haunt designer Jon Cooke are also in the spooky stew, making it a (monster) mash-up of great Halloween minds.
Good to know? Tickets to the Spooky Swap Meet have a knack for selling out, each and every year.
How will you mark the hallowed Halfway to Halloween moment in 2026? Best gather with other ghouls over the last weekend of April at the ever-haunting Heritage Square Museum.
