BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Students were arrested and will face discipline and criminal charges after a Centennial High School student posted a social media photo on Friday, appearing to have a gun on campus.
The Kern High School District said on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, the district was made aware of a report that a Centennial High School student posted a photo on social media on Friday, February 6, appearing to be in possession of a gun on campus.
Kern High School District Police investigated the incident and found the gun off campus.
According to KHSD, students involved have been arrested and are facing appropriate school discipline and criminal charges. “We appreciate the work of our police department,” said in a statement by KHSD.
The school district said as a precautionary measure, extra security and KHSD officers were on site Tuesday.
An official with KHSD said, “We take all threats seriously and the safety of our students and staff is our top priority. We remind our students, staff, and parents to continue reporting suspicious activity to our school administration or law enforcement, so we can keep our school community safe.”
