Michelle Dapper

Hearst NBC affiliate KCRA Sacramento, Calif., has promoted Michelle Dapper sports director. She has been a key member of the KCRA sports team since 2014 and brings nearly two decades of experience covering the biggest moments in professional, collegiate, and high school athletics.

Throughout her career, she has reported from six Super Bowls, NBA Finals with the Golden State Warriors, World Series matchups with the San Francisco Giants, spring training and Major League Baseball’s expansion into Sacramento. She also covered the Sacramento Kings’ first playoff run in 16 seasons and has reported on hundreds of high school football games and multiple state championship events across a variety of sports.

“A dream come true doesn’t even begin to cover it,” Dapper said.

“For more than a decade, Michelle has connected our audience to the heart of Northern California sports,” said KCRA President-GM Ariel Roblin. “She understands the powerful role sports coverage plays in our community, highlighting the triumphs, resilience, and dedication of our local athletes. Above all, Michelle understands the legacy of KCRA 3 Sports, and I couldn’t be prouder to see her lead the next chapter.”

Dapper’s work has earned recognition, including a Northern California Emmy Award and a Gold Telly Award for her contributions to the KCRA  documentary Game On, which chronicled the high-stakes 2013 battle between Sacramento and Seattle over the future of the Kings NBA franchise.

A native Californian, Dapper’s career include stints at KHQ Spokane, Wash.; KEZI Eugene, Ore.; and KRBC Abilene, Texas. She is a graduate of San Francisco State University.
