CLOVIS, Calif. (FOX26) — A woman was arrested after a welfare check escalated to a police chase on Tuesday afternoon.
Clovis police were sent to Derrel’s Mini Storage after receiving a report that a woman appeared to be slumped over in her car.
When officers arrived, the woman was seen to be alert and awake at the time.
The woman then drove away from officers, getting onto Highway 41, then traveling south on Highway 99, reaching speeds of 90 MPH.
CHP took over the pursuit, and helicopter reinforcements were called.
The pursuit went from Tipton in Tulare County back to Fresno.
The woman’s vehicle was disabled near Golden State and McKinley after driving over a CHP spike trap.
The woman refused to comply with the police, which resulted in the CHP breaking a window of the car.
According to authorities, she received minor injuries to her arms and was arrested without further incident.
The woman was identified to be 36-year-old Rebekah Madison of Fresno.
She was arrested and booked for felony evasion.
