Mad Duck Craft Brewing Co. is cleared for takeoff.

Known for its beer, burgers and wings, the popular Fresno-based eatery’s fifth location had its soft opening on the second floor of the Fresno Yosemite International Airport near Gates 5-17 on Wednesday.

A social media post announcing the Mad Duck opening was shared by SwitchPacket Register & Credit Card, a local Clover point of sale provider.

The new addition behind airport security was approved by the Fresno City Council back in 2023, after it was proposed by SSP America, a company that describes itself as “a leading food and beverage provider in travel locations around the world.”

Airport Media and Public Relations Officer Vikkie Calderon said Wednesday a grand opening is anticipated in the coming weeks.

“This phased approach allows team members to smoothly transition to updated systems and services through a soft opening,” Calderon said. “An official opening is planned for later this month and will be announced soon.”

Mad Duck’s CEO Alex Costa oversees four other locations in Fresno County, including a brewery in Clovis, another at Campus Pointe, the original in Northwest Fresno and one off of Copper and Maple avenues.

Mad Duck will soon be joined by Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant, which also plans to serve up food and drinks to hungry travelers. Based in Fresno, the Los Amigos second location is “almost ready for takeoff,” according to iflyfresno, which posted the update to Instagram on Jan. 29.
