PREVIEW

Nineteen consecutive wins and counting. That is the momentum Michael Farzley’s Sage Hill Lightning (24-4) carry into Thursday night’s CIF-SS playoff clash against Redondo Union (17-9) at Peter V. Ueberroth Gymnasium in Newport Coast. The Sea Hawks, guided by head coach Marcelo Enriquez, arrive riding their own wave of late-season success, setting up an intriguing first-round matchup between two programs peaking at the right time.

Sage Hill’s balanced attack has been nearly unstoppable during the win streak. Senior Amalia Holguin anchors the Lightning’s offensive flow, while junior Kamdyn Klamberg and sophomores Eve Fowler, Addison Uphoff and Leah O’Toner provide complementary scoring and defensive pressure.

Redondo Union counters with its own formidable lineup. Senior co-captains Chloe Choy and Ava Gomez bring veteran leadership and playoff experience, while senior Abby Zimmerman adds another reliable scoring option. The wild card may be freshman phenom Rudy Hopkins, whose emergence has given the Sea Hawks an unpredictable dimension that could test Sage Hill’s defense.

Opening tipoff is set for 7 p.m. PT on Thursday, February 12 with a live TV broadcast on NFHS Network.
