After two days of light rain and snow in Northern California, Thursday is expected to offer a dry break ahead of another round of wet weather. Valley and Foothills rain totals were relatively light Wednesday, but accumulations were enough for soggy ground and wet roads. A few snow showers lingered late into the evening on the Tahoe area summits. Many resorts reported a fresh 6 to 10 inches of new snow since Tuesday. Northern California will be dry through Valentine’s Day. Rain will start moving over the coast late in the afternoon Sunday. Outdoor plans look OK for both weekend days, but be ready to be flexible on Sunday if the timing of rain speeds up. This stormy stretch will have a major impact on mountain travel, especially above 5,000 feet.
