FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Downtown Fresno just got a little more flavor with the grand opening of the city’s first-ever bagel cafe, Einstein Bros. Bagels.

Mayor Jerry Dyer joined business owners and community members Wednesday for the grand opening of Einstein Bros. Bagels.

The new shop, located at Kern and M Streets near the Fresno Convention Center, officially opened its doors with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Einstein Bros. Bagels is known for its freshly baked bagels, prepared each morning and served as part of its signature breakfast sandwiches or with a double-whipped cream cheese “shmear.”

Mayor Dyer said he’s thrilled to see new businesses drawing people back to downtown.

“We see how many people are out here today at the Farmers Market, but it’s like that every single day,” Dyer said. “Since the pandemic, more and more people are returning to work — and more people are coming back to downtown.”

The new café is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
