City of Adelanto officials have announced that its municipality has officially been awarded the “Prohousing Designation” from the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
The Prohousing Designation is given to municipalities that demonstrate a clear commitment to accelerating housing production, streamlining approval processes and removing barriers to development.
Receiving a Prohousing Designation also allows jurisdictions to apply to the Prohousing Incentive Program, which is designed to reward local governments with additional funding to accelerate affordable housing production and preservation, state officials said.
“With this achievement, Adelanto joins a select group of municipalities across California recognized for their leadership in creating equitable, sustainable, and affordable housing opportunities,” city officials stated.
Benefits for Adelanto
City leaders said the Prohousing Designation provides Adelanto with significant advantages in pursuing housing and community development projects, including:
Priority processing for state housing and infrastructure funding applications.
Access to competitive state programs with additional funding opportunities.
Enhanced incentives for affordable housing development.
Commitment to growth and opportunity
Adelanto Mayor Gabriel Reyes said the city receiving the designation is a tremendous accomplishment.
“The Prohousing Designation not only validates our city’s vision for smart, responsible growth but also puts us in a stronger position to secure the resources we need to improve infrastructure, build more housing, and enhance quality of life for our residents,” Reyes said
City Manager Jessie Flores also expressed his appreciation to the team that made this possible.
“This milestone reflects the dedication, collaboration, and tireless efforts of our city staff, who worked diligently to meet and exceed the state’s rigorous standards,” Flores said. “Your professionalism, innovation, and persistence made this achievement possible.”
