Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson has not addressed the public on the uptick in shootings as the City prepares to host the 2028 Olympics

LONG BEACH – Police Tuesday are investigating a shooting that wounded two men near Seaside Park in Long Beach.

Long Beach Police Department officers responded at approximately 8:31 p.m. Sunday to the 1400 block of Magnolia Avenue south of the park, between West Cowles and East Anaheim streets regarding a shots fired call.

When they arrived at the scene, officers found evidence that a shooting had occurred, the police department said.

While they were at the scene, officers said they were told that the victims had taken themselves to a hospital and each had a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the lower body.

The motive and circumstances of the shooting, as well as any suspect description, are under investigation.
