BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A man who was critically injured in a crash on White Lane on Sunday has died, and police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision, according to officials.
Bakersfield police officers were dispatched at about 11:40 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, 2026, to the 7000 block of White Lane for a traffic collision. Officers found one of the drivers, an adult man, suffering from major injuries. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The second driver stayed on scene and was transported for injuries, said Discovery Church officials to Eyewitness News.

The first driver died on Feb. 11 after the Kern County Coroner’s Office notified the Bakersfield Police Department Traffic Division.
The investigation found the injured driver had been traveling westbound and made an unprotected left turn in front of eastbound traffic when the collision happened.
Discovery Church made a social media post on Thursday morning offering condolences, saying that one of their church members had died.
Police described the 7000 block of White Lane as an east-west roadway with three lanes of traffic in each direction, separated by a raised concrete center divider. There is a left-turn storage lane for westbound traffic.
