Janus Electric Holdings Ltd (ASX:JNS) Managing Director and CEO Ben Hutt talked with Proactive about the company’s heavy-vehicle electrification system and its growing US expansion, including new California orders valued at approximately A$1.6 million. Hutt explained that Janus Electric is a technology company that develops hardware and software enabling the diesel engine and gearbox of a large truck to be replaced with an electric drivetrain and swappable battery system. “You just take the diesel engine out, take the gearbox out, put the electric motor and the drivetrain in,” he said, describing how the conversion effectively gives the truck a “new heart” and allows it to operate with zero emissions for the rest of its working life.
