TULARE, Calif. (KFSN) — The World Ag Expo has wrapped up its last day of the week and tens of thousands made it out to the show on Thursday.
Over 1,200 exhibitors are gearing up to pack up and go home, as the 59th Annual World Ag Expo has come to an end.
Organizers say this year was busy as usual… as the event welcomed people from around the world.
“Definitely a shock to people who haven’t been with us before, when they get on our grounds and see the number of people that we have, the amount of acreage and square footage we have with exhibitors, and the quality of people that attend our show too, I think is really important. It’s farmers and ranchers. It’s people in the agriculture industry, and that’s really important to our exhibitors as well,” says Megan Lausten, with World Ag Expo Media and Marketing.
Valley native, Kim Sullivan at Killingsworth Gear, has been coming to the show for more than 40 years.
He and his father started off at the original location in Downtown Tulare. Now, Kim has taken over the family business and is a regular at the Expo.
“The experience has been awesome, you never know who you are gonna meet. It gives you an opportunity to say thank you to your customers that make it out to the farm show. It’s international, so you never know what country is gonna come in and visit you,” explains Kim.
And it wouldn’t be the Ag-Expo without the food sold by local schools and non-profits.
Among the most popular is the Sundale Ribeye Steak Sandwich. Students, parents and staff are all hands on deck, selling over 20,000 sandwiches in three days.
“It’s a huge financial impact. It supports so many programs on our campus. We give scholarships, both to our eighth graders and our high school alumni. It supports our fine arts, our performing arts, technology on campus, cheerleading sports, eighth-grade trips, and a variety of programs throughout our campus,” mentions Cindy Gist, the Superintendent at Sundale Elementary School.
Organizers mention they already have exhibitors ready to go for next year.
The 2027 Ag Expo will be February 9 through 11.
