The Los Angeles dining scene is gearing up for one of the busiest restaurant days of the year: Valentine’s Day. In between, eateries around town are keeping taste buds satisfied with revamped menus, red carpet-inspired afternoon tea and new healthy options. Read more in February food news below.

Through March 15, enjoy a tea service at any Chado location inspired by the hit Netflix romance series. Highlights include scones, lemon pudding tea cake, The Bridgerton’s Tea-Marinated Truffled Eggs, Lady Danbury’s Cucumber & Cream Cheese, Kate’s Masala CHai and Penelope’s Hibiscus Chamomile. 

Goop Kitchen Opens in Larchmont

Gwyneth Paltrow’s delivery-first, clean food concept has debuted in Larchmont, bringing gluten-free bowls, salads, pizzas and more dishes sans processed ingredients and refined sugars to the neighborhood. It is open Monday through Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Curtis Stone’s Michelin-starred restaurant and butcher shop dives into its tenth year of service with a number of new menu items: Josper-roasted Dorade with miso vinaigrette; Josper-roasted Maine scallops with coconut broth, roasted fennel and finger lime; Romanesco broccoli with dill yogurt, kebab spice, mint, and dill; and Yuzu Tart with buttermilk sorbet, toasted pistachio, and lemon pearls.

The most recently opened Holy Basil outpost now offers lunch service from noon to 2:30 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Over in Atwater Village, keep an eye out on weekly activations like Larb Thursday, Holy Burger Monday and the forthcoming weekend brunch.  

Hotel Casa del Mar 100-Year Anniversary Menu

The Santa Monica hotel celebrates its century milestone with a Prohibition-inspired cocktail menu with beverages like The Macallan Old Fashion, Del Mar Queen Bee and Wild West Sazerac. It is available all throughout the centennial year.

Whether celebrating the day of love with your Valentine or Galentine, Irv’s Burgers has your sweet tooth covered with a limited-edition strawberry sweetheart shake (available all month), while on the savory front, Prince St. Pizza has a heart-shaped Cupid’s Naught Pie pizza available on just Feb. 13 and 14.

Levain has a number of new menu items to get through the final stretch of the cold season: a toffee latte, toffee hot chocolate and a limited-time Dark Days of Winter box with the Coffee Toffee and Black & White cookie. 

Lucia Black Foodways Menu Series

Helmed by its new executive chef, Cleophus “Ophus” Hethington, Lucia has a menu series this month that honors Afro-diasporic cuisine. Launched Feb. 4, each week highlights a different part of Black foodways. The second week’s Afro-Latina menu offers anticucho-style beef with huancaína and palm oil sabayon, green plantain gnudi with bacalao and bitter herbs, Brazilian-inspired moqueca with coconut and palm oil and a corn and cassava gâteau with piloncillo caramel and burnt citrus. Then, week three’s Caribbean dishes include fufu de plátano with pickled shrimp and coconut cream, a modern take on accra de morue, oil down reworked with breadfruit, dasheen and coconut reduction and burnt sugar custard with nutmeg and rum raisin ice cream. For the finale, Hethington celebrates Black American cooking with dishes like fried green tomato, cornbread agnolotti in smoked turkey broth, catfish and grits and a sweet potato doughnut.

The Hollywood eatery revamped its menu with 20 new dishes, including crab pad Thai, more noodle soups and three additional papaya salad renditions.

Magnolia Bakery added a banana pudding bar to its Los Angeles locations, allowing visitors to from four made-to-order pudding creations: caramel browne, cookies and cream, red velvet and chocolate hazelnut.  

The Maybourne Beverly Hills Haute Couture Afternoon Tea Returns

The Maybourne Beverly Hills has a refreshed Prêt-à-Portea: The Red Carpet Collection menu with pastries that pay homage to high fashion moments from Timothée Chalamet, Sabrina Carpenter, Jenna Ortega and Ariana Grande. 

Norms x Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die

In celebration of the forthcoming release of Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die (out Feb. 13), the Norms on La Cienega — which is featured in the movie —is serving two movie-themed menu items through Feb. 28: a stack of Hostess Snoball Hotcakes and the chocolatey Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die milkshake. Consider stopping in on Feb. 17, National Pancake Day, during which $1 from each Snoball Hotcake order will benefit No Kid Hungry.

Kato gets collaborative for Lunar New Year dining by welcoming Fauna chefs David Castro Hussong and Maribel Aldaco Silva, along with their team from Valle de Guadalupe, from Feb. 17 to 19 and chef-owner Nick Curtin and Camilla Hanse of Copenhagen’s Michelin-starred, Green Star–awarded Alouette from Feb. 24 to 26. Over in Historic Filipinotown, Rasarumah teams up with Chef Diego Argoti’s back-alley pop-up Estrano on Feb. 16, serving dishes lik lamb neck panang and duck leg with green curry. Meanwhile, feasts at Genghis Cohen are accompanied by red envelopes and celebratory menu items. For a really special experience, Bistro Na’s has Imperial Eight-Treasure Duck from Feb. 16 to 22, which requires a reservation seven days in advance and is limited to just three ducks a day.
