A small plane made an emergency landing at Heartwell Park in Long Beach on Monday afternoon.

The Long Beach Fire Department received reports around 4:05 p.m. of a plane that had landed on a soccer field near Carson Street and Palo Verde Avenue.

The pilot was taken to a local hospital for treatment. LBFD also transported a woman in her 40s to a local hospital for treatment after she was struck by the plane as it attempted to land in the park.
The cause of the emergency landing remains under investigation. Crews remained on scene to secure the aircraft and assess any potential hazards in the area.
