Police found the boy with serious injuries, and, despite efforts from first responders, he was pronounced dead.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The three-year-old child at the center of a suspicious death investigation in Sacramento was identified as Jeremiah Cash Carter.

According to the Sacramento Police Department, officers responded for a medical aid call along the 3300 block of Douglas Street, in Sacramento’s Hagginwood neighborhood, and found the boy with serious injuries. 

Despite efforts from first responders, he was pronounced dead. He was identified by the county coroner’s office on Friday. Police are investigating the incident as a suspicious death. 

“Someone appears to be at home, and they contacted the fire department, the police department,” said Officer Allison Smith, spokesperson for the Sacramento Police Department. “Our personnel has been in contact with the family, and we are working with them to gather any information that we can about what occurred.”

Few details have been released surrounding Carter’s death.
