Authorities are searching for a suspect behind a violent robbery in Oakland Park that left a victim hospitalized.
The incident happened shortly before 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 3000 block of Northwest 21st Avenue.
Broward Sheriff’s Office officials said the victim was riding a bicycle when the adult male suspect grabbed the bicycle tire and yelled at the victim to “give my my wallet.”
The victim said he didn’t have the wallet and the suspect started punching him in the face, leaving him bloodied, officials said.
When the victim fell to the ground, the suspect took his iPhone and fled.
The victim was hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
Authorities on Friday released a surveillance image of the suspect, who was wearing a tan, woven sun hat with a black long sleeve shirt and blue jeans, and had a full gray and black beard.
A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest. Anyone with info is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
