A federal agent was attacked by a group of people in downtown Los Angeles as a demonstration was underway, police said Friday.
The alleged attack happened at around 1:35 p.m. on Alameda Street near East Temple Street. The Los Angeles Police Department said on social media that some demonstrators were “fighting” with federal agents.
As the protest continued, the alleged attackers blended in with demonstrators, police said.
The LAPD also said “acts of vandalism” were reported at the protest site.
Drivers were urged to avoid the downtown Los Angeles, especially on northbound lanes of Los Angeles Street.
The agent was taken to Los Angeles County General Medical Center. The agent’s condition was not immediately known.
