THIS HAPPENED AROUND 1:00 THIS MORNING AT THE INTERSECTION OF LOCUST AND OAKLAND ON MILWAUKEE’S UPPER EAST SIDE. 12 NEWS IMANI FLEMING IS LIVE THERE NOW WITH THE NEW VIDEO. WE’VE JUST OBTAINED. IMANI. WELL, GERRON, WE’RE STANDING RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET RIGHT NOW FROM WHERE THIS CRASH HAPPENED ABOUT TEN HOURS AGO THIS MORNING, RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET THERE ON THE SIDEWALK. WE CAN SEE THOSE TWO CONES TRYING TO COVER UP SOME OF THE DEBRIS LEFT OVER FROM THE CAR THAT CRASHED HERE. OF COURSE, THIS IS A VERY BUSY INTERSECTION. EVEN NOW. AT 11:00, WE WENT INSIDE THE COFFEE HOUSE AND SPOKE TO THE PEOPLE INSIDE WHO SAID THEY’RE JUST LUCKY THAT NO ONE WAS OUT AND ABOUT. NO ONE WAS INSIDE THE BUILDING. WE EVEN SPOKE WITH A WOMAN WHO LIVES IN THIS BUILDING, WHO LIVES IN THE EAST SIDE, WHO SAID SHE IS SICK AND TIRED OF THE RECKLESS DRIVING HAPPENING HERE IN HER NEIGHBORHOOD. I’M SICK OF IT. LIKE ALL DAY SIRENS, ALL DAY, ALL NIGHT, YOU KNOW. YOU KNOW, IT’S LOUD. IT’S. IT’S JUST NOT FOR ME. SO WE’VE GOT THAT EXCLUSIVE SURVEILLANCE VIDEO TO SHOW YOU. Police arrested at least one person early Friday morning after a car slammed into a stoplight pole on Milwaukee’s Upper East Side.The crash happened around 1 a.m. near Oakland Avenue and Locust Street.WISN 12 News video shows the vehicle on its side, with the traffic light pole completely destroyed. The car came within inches of a nearby building.Police said the driver lost control while making a right turn, struck a traffic sign and rolled into a building. When 12 News arrived at the scene, a photojournalist saw officers taking at least one person into custody.Police said the driver, a 26-year-old man, was extricated from the vehicle and taken to an area hospital with non-fatal injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of OWI.
