Lovers Lane is a wholesome community celebration in the Mission District on Valentine’s Day, featuring performances, local art, and local vendors. This Saturday, February 14, Lovers Lane is back for its 5th year, bringing another wonderful community event. The free block party will run all day, from 10 am to 6 pm, at Harrison & 24th Street and Balmy Alley & 24th Street.

The 2026 celebration will feature live performers and DJs throughout the day, with live performances by painters and other visual artists. You can also expect a Lowrider showcase along with food and drink vendors. The block party is family-friendly, so you can expect games and activities for kids, along with community resources throughout. Lovers Lane is a wonderful way to support local businesses and a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day in the Mission.

The event was started in 2021 by community organizer Lucia Gonzalez Ippolito. Valentine’s Day can be expensive, with the growing trend of high-end restaurants and gifts as part of the holiday. Lovers Lane is intended to be a community-centered alternative to celebrate, and it helps showcase local businesses and further foster community in the Mission.

“Lovers Lane reminds us that community itself is an economy,” said Andrew Brobst, one of many key leads for the event. “This celebration keeps money in the neighborhood and challenges systems that extract from working-class communities.”

The celebration is run by dedicated volunteers and has continued to grow in popularity since it started in 2021. Last year, 3,000 people attended, and organizers are expecting 4,000 for 2026. Lovers Lane is free and open to all ages. Whether you’re celebrating with loved ones or want to meet some of your neighbors, it promises to be a wonderful Valentine’s Day event.
