Valentine’s Day week at the Original Los Angeles Flower Market included the arrival of millions of fresh-cut flower stems at its location in the Los Angeles Flower District in downtown L.A.

Savvy customers are picky about the flower varieties and colors they love to give for Valentine’s Day. The top best selling flower in 2026 are roses — the traditional choice for Valentine’s Day — and blush and white color roses join the classic red option as being popular with the public, according to an OLAFM press release. The “hot” in demand Valentine’s Day flowers this year also include anemones, peonies and tulips.

Valentine’s Day is one of the busiest times during the year for the flower market. The other especially busy holidays are Mother’s Day, Easter and Christmas.

The wholesale flowers delivered to the OLAFM are grown in locally in California (Carpinteria, Oxnard and San Diego County), and also internationally (Colombia, Ecuador, Italy, the Netherlands and New Zealand).

The Original Los Angeles Flower Market was founded in 1919 by a group of 30 local growers known as the Florists’ Exchange, and in 1921 the first warehouse was built for the market in downtown Los Angeles.

In 2026, the market has more than 35 vendors that sell not only cut flowers but also foliage for bouquets and other designs, and floral accessories. The OLAFM includes its main sales floor and dozens of member merchants in surrounding facilities.
