Want to run for local, county, statewide or federal offices? Monday officially opened the candidate nomination filing period for the statewide June 2 primary.
Those wishing to run for eligible federal, state, legislative, county and local offices must file nomination papers by the 5 p.m. March 6 deadline. Candidates have until the March date to collect nomination signatures, file their Declaration of Candidacy, and, if applicable, their candidate slate of qualifications to their county’s elections office.
Candidates who gather the required number of signatures in lieu of paying filing fees may not need to circulate nomination papers.
Candidate statements of qualification and applicable candidate statement fees are due at the time nomination documents are filed with the county elections office. Filing fees, if required, must be paid when nomination forms are picked up. Fees are non-refundable.
County elections officials encourage candidates to contact their offices early to review necessary paperwork and schedule appointments to pick up and file their nomination papers.
YOLO COUNTY
In Yolo County, Declaration of Candidacy and candidate statement of qualifications are filed to Yolo County Elections Office, 625 Court St., Suite B05, Woodland. Call 530-666-8133 or use the online scheduling appointment system at https://elections.yolocounty.gov/scheduling.

Candidates for office in Sacramento County can also schedule appointments through the website for in-person filing at the county’s election office, 7000 65th St.

You may enter your residential address and verify the district you reside in. Most contests require you, as the candidate, to live in the district you are running for.

Placer County Elections Office was closed Monday in observance of President Lincoln’s birthday but reopens Tuesday. Prospective Placer County candidates can find information they will need at placercountyelections.gov.
