CHICAGO (WLS) — Officials have identified a man who was found shot to death on the South Side near a carjacked vehicle earlier this week.
Damon Kellum, 45, was found with a gunshot wound to the head near East 37th Street and South Lake Park Avenue in the city’s Oakland neighborhood around 5 a.m. Wednesday.

Near the scene, authorities found a vehicle that matched the description of one stolen during a deadly Lakeview carjacking earlier that morning.
Around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, a 22-year-old man was sitting in his car with another man, 38, at West Waveland Avenue and North Halsted Street.
Police said that’s when two thieves walked up, carjacked the 22-year-old, shot him, and took off in his car.
The 38-year-old man was not injured, police said. The 22-year-old’s identity has not yet been released.
Police would not confirm if the two shootings are connected.
