SACRAMENTO, Calif. (February 14, 2026) – The Northern Arizona women’s basketball team raced out to a 15-point first-half lead and held off Sacramento State for a 60-55 win on Saturday afternoon inside Hornet Pavillion.

NAU improves to 10-17 and 6-8 in Big Sky play, winning its third straight and second in a row on the road, while Sacramento State falls to 11-15 and 5-8 in league play. The Lumberjacks now sit fifth in the conference standings with four games remaining in the regular season.

Kayla Williams scored 17 points on 6-of-9 from the floor to power the Jacks, while Naomi White contributed 11 points in the second half after landing in foul trouble early. Madison Watts (seven points, eight rebounds, four assists) and J’Bionna Robinson (six points, five rebounds, three steals) did a little bit of everything alongside Emma Dasovich, who scored nine points and grabbed six boards for her third outing this season with three or more triples.

Keanna Salave’a recorded 13 points on 6-of-7 from the floor, while Benthe Versteeg scored 12 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished four assists to lead the Hornets. NAU held Sacramento State to 21 points on 28.1% shooting in the first half, the lowest output by a Lumberjack opponent this year in the first 20 minutes.

A rugged start from both sides resulted in an 11-7 lead for NAU after one quarter, as no one shot above 30% in the opening period. The Jacks then built a 15-point lead midway through the second quarter thanks to 60% shooting in the period, but the Hornets closed the half on a 12-4 run, shortening NAU’s lead to 28-21 at the break.

The Hornets got as close as six in the third, but NAU was able to score 10 points off six Sacramento State miscues while only committing two turnovers in the quarter to lead by 12 going into the final frame. The Jacks were then able to maintain a double-figure lead up until the 2:30 mark of the fourth and held off a last-second push from the Hornets. A triple from Versteeg made it a 58-55 game with four seconds to go, but a pair of free throws from Naomi White sealed the win.

With the victory, NAU improves its record to 10-2 when leading at halftime and 8-3 when leading after three quarters. Sacramento State’s 55 points are also a season-low in points allowed in conference play this season for the Jacks, and the second-lowest by a DI opponent this season, as they held the Hornets under their 63.1 scoring average entering today’s contest.

The Lumberjacks will return to Flagstaff next weekend to host Northern Colorado on Saturday, Feb. 21. Tipoff with the Bears is scheduled for 2 p.m. MST and will be streamed on ESPN+.
