FRESNO, Calif. — The No. 24 Husky softball team (5-3, 0-0 Big Ten) completed the three-game sweep at Fresno State on Saturday afternoon, defeating the Bulldogs 6-1 in the final game at Margie Wright Diamond.

Five of Washington’s six total runs on Saturday came in the fourth inning, with the final score in the final inning of the series.

Gabi Toney recorded the third home run of her career, pinch hitting for Sophi Mazzola and knocking a two-run homer to right center field to put the Huskies on the board.

Kaycie Burdick got hit by a pitch to reach first base, with Ava Carroll stepping up right after to hit a two-run homer of her own to double the Dawgs’ lead.

With the bases loaded, Fresno State’s pitcher dished a wild pitch and Giselle Alvarez scored to bring the UW lead to 5-0.

Burdick recorded her first career triple in the top of the seventh, bringing in Toney for her second run of the afternoon and making the score 6-0.

The Bulldogs scored their first and only run of the three-game series in the bottom of the seventh off a double to centerfield.

Washington will play two more games on Sunday at San Jose State and Santa Clara as part of the Silicon Valley Classic.
