(FOX40.COM) — A man with a realistic fake gun was shot and killed by police after allegedly robbing a Sacramento bank in late January. Friday, police released the video footage of the incident.

Authorities said they were responding to a robbery in progress at a bank in the 1600 block of Response Road around 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29. In the video released by the Sacramento Police Department, bank employees can be seen handing over the cash register to a man in a green jacket.

“I believe there’s a robbery in progress,” a male caller can be heard telling dispatch.

Additional responding officers located the man on the 1800 block of Exposition Boulevard and gave multiple commands to drop the gun, the video shows.

The man was shot after pointing the gun at officers. The video provides multiple angles of the shooting.

The man was rendered first aid at the scene by officers and later died at an area hospital, police said. No officers were injured.

The pistol, later determined to be a realistic fake, was recovered at the scene.
