FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Local flower vendors in Fresno say business is booming this season, and they credit community support for keeping sales strong.

The surge is coming during a busy time of year when small businesses depend on foot traffic.

This year, many vendors say customers are showing up in a big way.

“Business has been great yeah yesterday we were starting at 3 o’clock in the morning same time,” Santiago Lopez, a young vendor, said. “We sold a bunch, it was pretty amazing my mom left early like at 8 o’clock so yeah and we’re back here selling again, see how much we can sell.”

Vendors along Blackstone and Shaw avenues in Fresno reported steady crowds, strong sales and an increase in new customers buying flowers for their loved ones.

While other markets may be seeing slowdowns, local vendors say shoppers in Fresno are making a point to invest in small businesses.

For the flower sellers, the strong turnout is about more than sales, they say, and serves as a reminder that community support can make a significant difference.
