The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a woman in the public lobby of the Santa Rita Jail in Dublin early Saturday.
Dequita Grace Harrell, 36, of Oakland was found unresponsive in the women’s restroom in the jail lobby around 5:25 a.m., the sheriff’s office said. Deputies rendered lifesaving measures and summoned emergency medical personnel, but she was declared dead at the scene.

Harrell was believed to be at the jail awaiting the release of an incarcerated person, and this is not considered to be an in-custody death, the sheriff’s office said.
While there were no signs of foul play, Harrell’s official cause of death will be determined by a forensic pathologist, said the sheriff’s office, which notified her next of kin.
